A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after three people were killed in Nottingham in a \u201chorrific and tragic incident\u201d.<\/p>\n
It comes after a major incident was declared this morning as Nottinghamshire Police closed several roads across the city centre.<\/p>\n
Two people were found dead in the street in Ilkeston Road just after 4am on Tuesday and a third man was found dead in Magdala Road, Nottinghamshire Police said.<\/p>\n
Another three people are in hospital after someone tried to run them over in a van in Milton Street, in what police believe is a connected incident.<\/p>\n
Police have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.<\/p>\n
Police cordoned off around 400 yards of the scene at Ilkeston Road with tape, and what appeared to be medical kit was scattered across the road.<\/p>\n
Two forensic officers arrived and appeared to dedicate the majority of their time at a bathroom and plumbing business called Willbond.<\/p>\n
The forensic officers eventually left the scene on foot with a black crate and large plastic bag.<\/p>\n
Chief Constable Kate Meynell said: \u201cThis is an horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe these three incidents are all linked and we have a man in custody.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis investigation is at its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ask the public to be patient while inquiries continue. At this time, a number of roads in the city will remain closed as this investigation progresses.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nWoodborough Road from junction of Magdala Road into the city
\nMaid Marian Way junction of Parliament Street
\nThe Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network said it has suspended all services due to \u201cmajor police incidents around the city and suburbs\u201d.<\/p>\n
In a separate statement, NET advised travellers that NCT buses are accepting its tickets and passes, while EMR trains are also accepting its tickets and passes between Hucknall and Beeston, and Nottingham station.<\/p>\n
