President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the government and people of Kwara State over the death of more than 100 persons in a boat accident in the state.<\/p>\n
A statement by the Director of Information in the State House, Mr Abiodun Oladunjoye, the President has promised to look into the challenges facing inland waterways transportation in the country.<\/p>\n
The boat accident led to the death of many victims some of whom were wedding guests from Egbu village in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am deeply saddened by the news of the tragic boat accident that claimed the lives of our people in Kwara State.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat the victims were guests at a wedding ceremony made the unfortunate accident more painful.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of victims of the tragic mishap.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also sympathise with the government and people of Kwara State over the accident. May all loved ones find comfort.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tinubu advised the state government and relevant Federal Government agencies to look into the circumstances surrounding the boat accident.<\/p>\n
He promised that his administration would look into the challenges of inland water transportation in the country to ensure the matter of safety and operational standards are strictly adhered to.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Kwara State Government and relevant federal agencies should work together to unravel the immediate and remote causes of this unfortunate accident.<\/p>\n
\u201cImmediate relief and necessary assistance should also be provided to the survivors and families of victims,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
