{"id":1999,"date":"2023-06-01T17:54:12","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T17:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/?p=1999"},"modified":"2023-06-01T17:54:12","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T17:54:12","slug":"nuj-mourns-ray-ugochukwus-sudden-demise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peoplesforumonline.com.ng\/about\/2023\/06\/01\/nuj-mourns-ray-ugochukwus-sudden-demise\/","title":{"rendered":"NUJ mourns Ray Ugochukwu&#8217;s sudden demise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has with a heavy heart announced and mourned the sudden death of a media giant, a versatile Unionist and a brilliant journalist, Mr Ray Ugochukwu who passed on on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The union said his death came as a big shock.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are going to miss his courageous attributes and mentorship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was also one of the pillars of the Lagos Council of NUJ and served the union meritoriously in his capacities as the Chairman, Seminar Committee; and as a Member, Committee on Milestone Recognition of Media Icons In Nigeria&#8221;, NUJ said.<\/p>\n<p>The union said that he spent most of his lifetime in ensuring the advancement of Maritime Reporting as well as welfare of Journalists.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He worked in several media houses.<br \/>\nAmong his giant strides, he was a former President of the Maritime Reporters\u2019 Association of Nigeria (MARAN); President, Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN); and a former Chairman of the Daily Times Chapel of NUJ.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The legacies of Ray are indelible and will exist forever.
