The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has lauded Dangote Cement Transport for achieving remarkable improvements in road safety, citing a substantial reduction in crashes involving the company’s articulated trucks following the introduction of new transport safety policies and operational reforms.<\/p>\n
The Corps described Dangote Cement as a model for transport management and road safety practices, not only in Nigeria but across Africa.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a visit by officials of Dangote Cement Plc to the FRSC Headquarters, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the company for setting a new benchmark in road safety management and encouraged it to sustain initiatives that are transforming Nigeria’s transport sector.<\/p>\n
According to comparative data from 2025 and 2026, crashes involving Dangote Cement trucks declined by 56 per cent, while fatalities dropped by 36 per cent and injuries decreased by 52 per cent.<\/p>\n
The Corps Marshal attributed the impressive performance to the successful implementation of Dangote Cement’s Gap Analysis recommendations and robust internal transport safety policies, describing the company’s approach as one that should be emulated by logistics operators across Africa. He noted that the achievements demonstrate how effective safety management by industry leaders can positively impact national and continental road safety outcomes.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Head of Transport at Dangote Cement Plc, Murilo Silva, highlighted the company’s investments in advanced transport management systems, including automated inspection technologies and artificial intelligence-driven solutions designed to improve operational efficiency and enhance road safety.<\/p>\n
Silva stated that the company’s longstanding collaboration with the FRSC in developing and implementing transport safety policies is now producing tangible results. <\/p>\n
He added that Dangote Cement remains committed to driver recertification programmes and continuous retraining as part of its safety strategy.
\nAlso speaking, the Group Chief HSSE and Sustainability Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, James Adenuga, said the achievements were made possible through strong leadership commitment and sustained support from top management for innovation and safety initiatives.<\/p>\n
Adenuga reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuous improvement through reforms, enhanced safety measures and innovation-driven programmes aimed at boosting efficiency, strengthening compliance with global best practices and delivering lasting value to stakeholders and host communities.<\/p>\n
The Lead Fleet Safety Officer for Nigeria at Dangote Cement Plc, Ozovehe Abraham, disclosed that the company has deployed advanced technologies to monitor driver behaviour in real time. He explained that the systems help improve compliance with safety standards, identify risky driving patterns early and support ongoing performance improvement among drivers.<\/p>\n
Abraham further revealed that Dangote Cement is reviewing and strengthening its speed limit policy as part of broader safety measures designed to further reduce road crashes, promote discipline and enhance safer haulage operations.<\/p>\n
