UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Salem Saeed, congratulated Adeniyi on his appointment as Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO), describing it as a milestone achievement for Nigeria and Africa. He commended the CGC and his management team for their leadership, noting that the partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the UAE has yielded strong results, particularly in non-oil trade. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have achieved a substantial increase in non-oil trade from 2023 to 2025. Despite challenges, this remains one of the best relationships we have had,\u201d the Ambassador stated. He further revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been submitted to strengthen cooperation in trade facilitation and customs administration. <\/p>\n
In response, Adeniyi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and optimism that the engagement would usher in a new phase of collaboration. \u201cWe are happy to work with the UAE to show the true nature of trade. We also want to make trade easier, especially for SMEs, and use your embassy to bring Customs administrations together,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The CGC highlighted the significant improvement in bilateral trade relations over the past two years and pledged continued engagement with traders and service providers to boost efficiency and legitimate trade.
