Akutah Pius Ukeyima, has dismissed suggestions that political ambitions are interfering with his regulatory duties, stressing that his commitment remains firmly on advancing maritime reforms.  <\/p>\n<p>Responding to speculation within industry circles that his attention is divided between official responsibilities and emerging political interests\u2014particularly amid recent debates over tariff adjustments\u2014Akutah described the claims as unfounded and a misrepresentation of his priorities.  <\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that all decisions under his leadership are guided strictly by law, stakeholder consultations, and the broader objective of maintaining balance within the maritime economy. \u201cPublic officials are often subject to speculation, but such narratives should not overshadow institutional work or undermine regulatory actions taken in good faith,\u201d he stated.  <\/p>\n<p>Akutah reiterated that the Council\u2019s mandate is to protect national trade interests, ensure fair regulation of the port economy, and strengthen stability across the shipping and logistics value chain.
