Detectives of the Ajuwon Division, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged murder of Stanley Okirie (M), aged 38, in Akute, Ogun State. <\/p>\n
The suspects are Maureen Okirie (F), 35, Salia Karikari (M), 15, and Jubril Karikari (M), 12, all family members of the victim.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, 9th April 2026, at about 1115hrs, police acted on an anonymous tip-off regarding suspicious activity. Officers arrived at the scene and caught one suspect attempting to bury a blood-soaked corpse in a shallow grave, in what appeared to be an effort to conceal the crime. <\/p>\n
Preliminary examination revealed a severe head injury. Investigations suggest the victim was attacked with a wooden pestle. The recovered weapon is now in police custody. The body has been deposited at Life Channel Mortuary, Olambe, for autopsy.<\/p>\n
The suspects, all relatives of the deceased, are currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, condemned the act as \u201ccruel, inhumane, and deeply disturbing,\u201d especially given the family ties involved. He stressed that violent crimes and attempts at concealment will not be tolerated, assuring the public of a thorough and transparent investigation. <\/p>\n
He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly, and continue cooperating with the Police to rid society of criminal elements.<\/p>\n
