The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dayo Mobereola, has commended the growing influence of women in Nigeria’s maritime industry, describing their expertise, leadership, and resilience as vital to the sector’s progress.
In his goodwill message to mark International Women’s Day 2026, Mobereola celebrated women working across the maritime value chain, noting that their dedication and professionalism continue to shape the industry’s development and sustainability.
He highlighted the contributions of women in sea-going roles, regulatory functions, technical operations, and administrative positions, stressing that their impact has strengthened the sector and enhanced its capacity for innovation and long-term growth.
“I celebrate your strength, expertise, and invaluable contributions to our maritime industry,” Mobereola stated, adding that women’s leadership and commitment have consistently translated into measurable progress.
Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” the NIMASA boss said the concept resonates with the daily impact of women in maritime, whose professionalism and resilience yield collective gains for the industry and the wider economy.
Mobereola further praised women professionals for excelling despite challenges, emphasizing that their presence in critical operational and decision-making roles is transforming the maritime landscape.
