… As NCCSC Gwagwalada Inaugurates Senior Course 14, Junior Course 24
The Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, inaugurated a combined cohort of 100 officers—50 participants for Senior Course 14 and 50 for Junior Course 24. The initiative underscores the Service’s commitment to building leadership capacity and enhancing operational efficiency.
The ceremony, held at Ahmad Makarfi Hall, marked the commencement of six‑month training for Senior Course participants and three‑month training for Junior Course participants.
Speaking on behalf of Comptroller‑General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, Deputy Comptroller‑General of Customs Sulaiman Chiroma described the inauguration as a milestone in the Service’s transition from operational efficiency to strategic leadership development.
“Modern Customs administration demands officers who are not only operationally competent but also strategically grounded,” DCG Chiroma said.
He emphasized that participation in Command courses would increasingly serve as a prerequisite for career advancement, urging officers to treat their nomination as both a privilege and responsibility.
The Commander charged participants to uphold integrity, accountability, and professionalism, noting that the College provides a vital platform for equipping middle‑level managers to navigate Nigeria’s evolving revenue framework and complex economic environment.
In his remarks, Commandant of NCCSC, Assistant Comptroller‑General of Customs Dow Gaura, reaffirmed the College’s role as a hub for capacity building and leadership development. He explained that the courses are designed to strengthen competencies in leadership, policy analysis, communication, and inter‑agency cooperation—skills essential for addressing emerging national and global challenges.
ACG Gaura urged participants to demonstrate discipline, punctuality, adaptability, and a strong appetite for knowledge, while warning against academic misconduct. He assured them of full support from instructors and directing staff, and encouraged participation in sports and recreational activities to maintain physical fitness and mental well‑being.
Declaring the courses open, the Commandant congratulated the officers and expressed confidence that the training would be impactful, enriching, and prepare them to drive institutional reforms and support national economic objectives.
