The Ibeto Seaport Area 5 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a training program to strengthen ethics and public trust.

On January 16, 2026, officers gathered in Port Harcourt for the Reputation Management Cascade Training, part of a nationwide push to promote integrity and accountability in customs operations.

Opening the session, Area Controller Comptroller Usman Yahaya reminded participants that “reputation is a currency more valuable than money.” He urged officers to guard their integrity, stressing that personal conduct reflects on the entire Service.

Five facilitators led modules covering crisis management, media controversies, corruption allegations, and the “Golden 7Cs” guiding customs officers. Sessions included case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises.

Participants noted that misconduct by one officer can tarnish the image of many. The training reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ethical conduct and sustained public confidence.
