On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, reinforcing their shared commitment to public health and national security.
The delegation, led by Dr. (Pharm.) Isaac Kolawole, NAFDAC’s South-West Zonal Coordinator was received by Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, Customs Area Controller, at the Command’s Operational Headquarters in Ibadan.
Dr. Kolawole in his speech, praised the Customs Service for its vital role in intercepting unwholesome food, counterfeit drugs, and other harmful products. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in protecting citizens and maintaining regulatory integrity.
He introduced NAFDAC’s “Green Book” — a digital platform for verifying registered and unregistered pharmaceutical products. The tool enhances transparency, traceability, and regulatory efficiency across the supply chain.
Comptroller Aliyu acknowledged NAFDAC’s efforts in combating fake drugs and highlighted the link between illicit goods and rising security threats such as terrorism and banditry. He described perpetrators of such acts as economic saboteurs who endanger lives and undermine national development.
The Customs Area Controller reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to working closely with NAFDAC and other stakeholders to secure Nigeria’s borders and promote public safety.
This strategic visit marks a renewed pledge by both agencies to collaborate more effectively in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of Nigerians.
