The Nigerian Navy stationed in Badagry on Friday October 3, 2025 , confiscated over 419 bags of foreign Parboiled rice and handed over same to the Seme Badagry command of Nigeria Customs Service . The commanding Officer of the Forward Operation Base FOB Leye Omotosho disclosed to newsmen that the contraband was intercepted along Badagry -Port -Novo creek.
The Forward Base Operations Officer who was represented at the handling over ceremony by Lt Commander Samson Tolabi, the Base Administrative Officer (BAO) in his speech reiterated the navy’s determination to enforce the Federal Government policies on maritime security and economic protection.
According to him “in its unwavering desire to rid Nigeria maritime and border corridors of illegality, the FOB of the Nigerian Navy has once again recorded a major breakthrough in its anti smuggling operations, on Friday October 3 2025, the base handed over 419 bags seized parboiled foreign rice to the Nigeria Customs Service NCS Seme Area command ” , this is in line with the extant regulations and harmonised standards of operating procedures (HSOP) for interagency collaboration”.
These operations are part of sustained efforts aimed at curtailing the activities of economic saboteurs and their collaborators who consistently exploit the Nigerian waterways and borderlines for smuggling and other unlawful activities, he stated. He reminded the public that the operation of the base were guided by the Chief of Naval Staff, vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla’s strategic directive of June 2025.
