The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, was filled with celebration on Thursday, 18 September 2025, as 66 senior officers were formally decorated following their promotion by the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) during its 63rd Regular Meeting in Abuja. The ceremony took place at the ECOWAS Joint Border Post (JBP), Seme-Krake.
In his address, Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Wale Adenuga, congratulated the officers and emphasized that promotion is both an honour and a responsibility.
The controller noted that promotion comes with humility, and it is not a license for pride but a call to greater service.
He urged the officers to lead with integrity, uplift their colleagues, and work collectively to make Seme Area Command a model of excellence.
Comptroller Adenuga commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and his management team for ensuring a transparent and merit-based promotion process. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the CGC’s leadership vision centered on trade facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, CSC Oreyeni Olufemi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CGC, the CAC, and all supporters. He pledged that the officers would uphold the values of the Service and justify the trust placed in them.
The event was witnessed by representatives of sister security agencies, including representatives from the Nigeria Immigration Service, DSS, NDLEA, NAFDAC, Port Health Service, NAQS, and the EOD/Anti-Bomb Unit. Family members of the promoted officers and stakeholders also joined in the celebration, creating an atmosphere of unity, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the Service’s mission.
