The Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged unwavering support to the Agency’s Executive Management in fulfilling its strategic mandate. This assurance was made during the Board’s inaugural meeting held in Lagos.
Chairman of the Board, Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, emphasized the Board’s dedication to collaborating with Management to advance Nigeria’s maritime sector and unlock the full potential of the Blue Economy.
“As you may know, the Management has signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as the Key Performance Indicators to measure the Agency’s achievements. As a Board, we are committed to work with the Management to ensure the full realization of activities that will help shape the policy direction of the Agency,” Hon. Abubakar stated.
Welcoming the Board members, NIMASA Director General/CEO, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reiterated the Agency’s core mission: to promote and regulate shipping, ensure maritime safety and security, and protect the marine environment.
He noted that the Board’s support would be instrumental in driving initiatives aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable and inclusive Blue Economy.
Dr. Mobereola reiterated that NIMASA Executive Management would continue to work closely with the Board and relevant stakeholders to foster an enabling environment for investment, enhance maritime infrastructure, and build human capacity across the sector.
