Freight forwarding being the most globalised profession today as it plays critical roles in the movement of goods and services around the world, a frontline freight forwarder and Chief Executive Officer of Bomarah Group, Hajia Bola Idayat Muse has promised to integrate her upcoming colleagues in the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) to international freight forwarding if voted in as the National Treasurer of the association.
Addressing Chief Executive Officers of Customs licensed companies at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday, Hajia Muse noted that goods and services move around the world nonstop every day and that the freight forwarder who is in the centre of this movement should be cosmopolitan, up and doing, be computer savvy, be very educated and well informed.
She intends to achieve this goal by working with the executive to train and retrain members on the dynamics of modern freight forwarding.
In her words: “We will establish collaborative partnerships and programmes with freight forwarding institutions in Europe, Asia and America. In the long run this will rub off positively on all of us as individual agents, on ANLCA as a respected body and Nigeria as a prosperous and respected nation.”
She also promised to work collaboratively to assert ANLCA as a force to reckon with in government policy formulation and execution in the maritime and aviation industry in Nigeria.
She asserted that freight forwarders are indirectly responsible for prices of goods in the market if they react or fail to react proactively to government duty policies on essential goods imported or exported in and out of Nigeria, hence ANLCA should be making contributions to Customs and trade policy formulation by government.
Hajia Muse stressed her desire to have an ANLCA that will serve the interests of young professionals who have taken up freight forwarding as a career, assuring that “ANLCA will mentor them, groom them to be confident and successful professionals. I promise to prioritise their growth as a major plank of our vision and mission, if elected.”
The current Financial Secretary of the association, two times Treasurer of Apapa chapter including serving in many committees as an active member, Hajia Muse is better positioned and trained to perform and excel in this onerous national assignment.
She is poised to lift ANLCA to its desired heights of respectability in the freight forwarding industry in Nigeria and internationally.
She said that she is trustworthy and that the association needs somebody like her to be in charge and handle their money, stating that ANLCA money is safe with her because accountability is her watchword.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, ANLCA MMA chapter, Prince Adewusi Adejare Bamgbala commended Hajia Muse’s integrity and forthrightness and assured her of the votes of members of the association in the chapter.
He appealed to his members to give their votes to her for her transparency and accountability.
Other major stakeholders also spoke well of the contestant while enjoining their colleagues to give their votes to her.
