The founders of Stagecoach Foundation, a fate-based, non profit and non political Organization on Thursday 23rd December 2025 kicked off a campaign in Lagos aimed at resetting the minds of the Nigerian youths into music as an alternative to engaging in crime and other social vices
Addressing newsmen during the event, the couple stated that they are leveraging on their background as Musicologist and theatre experiences to give back to the society and make an impression on the lives of the children. ” our aim is to take the children off the streets and crime ” they said , while confirming that the passion they had for the youths and children motivated them into their pet project.
According to them ” our aim is to raise Godly children and reinforce moral values that have been on the receiving end in the country emphasising that the country is presently at threshold and is witnessing moral deficit owing to poor economy and its attendant vices due largely to bad leadership. They however regretted the declining state of music education and the near absence of music instruments in both primary and secondary schools in the country stating that music is a veritable instrument of engaging the youths. They informed that music is all encompassing comprising drama, theatre, dance, drama and other musical instruments.
Asked whether the concert will be an annual or biannual event , the Morohunfolas said that it will depend on resources as they have invested so much to see to the success of the event. They were full thanks to some Godly individuals and friends who supported them both morally and financially,especially Pastor Larry Adeniyi who provided the venue and the necessary logistics to make the programme a success, when asked whether the foundation Caters for Christian fates only, they responded that the foundation is for both Christians and non Christians alike., on the need to seek funders or partner with other organizations of like minds, they suggested that they are going to explore other opportunities to sustain the objective of the foundation. The concert featured dance, drama, and solo presentation. The children went home with several girls including T shirts and polo among others.
Dr Kayode Morohunfola was the former head of music department at the Bowen university and currently with the Mountain Top university Yaba Lagos. He is also a veteran organist and pianist while Mrs Morohunfola is a music lecturer, Educator and director and is currently at queen’s college Yaba Lagos.
