The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Prince Adeyanju Adewale, accompanied by members of the Union’s newly elected executive council, paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, at the NPA Headquarters in Marina, Lagos, on Wednesday.
The visit served as an opportunity for the new MWUN leadership to formally introduce themselves to Dr. Dantsoho and his executive team. Comrade Adewale emphasized the importance of fostering a strong working relationship between the Union and the NPA, noting that both institutions are vital partners in the advancement of Nigeria’s maritime sector. “We must work hand in hand, as neither the Union nor the Authority can operate in isolation,” he stated.
During the meeting, the MWUN executives also extended their heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Dantsoho and the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Nigeria’s recent election to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Category ‘C’ Council seat. Comrade Adewale described the achievement as a significant milestone and a testament to Nigeria’s growing influence in global maritime affairs.
In response, Dr. Dantsoho expressed his appreciation for the Union’s visit and reaffirmed the NPA’s commitment to continued collaboration. He assured the MWUN leadership of the Authority’s dedication to building a vibrant and globally competitive maritime industry.
