The Comptroller General of Customs Wale Adeniyi has reaffirmed the determination of the Nigeria Customs Service NCS to scale up its operations by digitizing its component units. This he stated amidst several challenges including the recent cyber attacks. The CG made this remarks during a high level stakeholders meeting at the Apapa Area Command Lagos. He stated that the deployment of the the Unified Customs management system UCMS otherwise known as B’ODOGWU is an irreversible policy decision that has come to stay. While acknowledging that though new issues may arise, Customs is going to address them as they come even as they will continue to partner with key stakeholders and authorized banks. “There is no going back he stated remarking that previous engagements with banks have yielded and still yielding the desired result. He raised concerns over attempts to infiltrate and compromise Customs infrastructure aimed at disrupting the seamless operations of its cyber space, reminding that those behind the sabotage will be smoked out, and made to face the wrath of the the law since their actions constitute economic sabotage to the nation. He reiterated Customs commitments to open up communication aimed at engaging the stakeholders to discuss issues affecting maritime industry.
