The Joint Association of Licensed Customs Agents and Freight Forwarders, Apapa Chapter has shelved the plan to withdraw services in Apapa Port starting from tomorrow, Friday.
In a letter jointly signed by the chairmen of the five associations comprising the joint body and addressed to the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Customs command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu PhD, they informed that the proposed withdrawal of services earlier announced by the joint body in Apapa Port, which was scheduled for Friday the 22nd of August, 2025 has been suspended.
According to the letter, this decision follows the proactive measures of Comptroller General of Customs’ intervention on the glitches affecting the newly introduced and widely accepted B’Odogwu which impacted on the network improvement since 20th August, 2025.
The letter further noted that the CGC has also engaged the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers Council as well as consultations with shipping companies which resulted in the waiver of demurrages incurred during
B’Odogwu glitches.
“We sincerely appreciate the efforts of all parties who contributed to achieving this resolution, which now allows for the continuation of smooth and uninterrupted port operations,” the letter added.
The associations noted that the suspension of the withdrawal of services will ensure minimal disruption to cargo handling, shipping activities, and overall port operations, ultimately benefiting trade, businesses, and the community.
The letter was signed by the Apapa Chapter chairmen of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Hon. Emeka Chukwumalu, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Eze Echendu, National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents ( NCMDLCA), Alhaji Gambo Suleiman Maro International Freight Forwarders Association (IFFA), Chief Osita Chukwu and Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN), Pst.
