MWUN Elections: Adeyanju Congratulates Comrades Avoseh, Ajayi on Their Victories

The Chairman Global of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, has congratulated Comrade Sunday Avoseh on his re-election as President of the Seamen Branch of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), and Comrade Alex Bamidele Ajayi on his unopposed emergence as President of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Branch of the Union.

Comrade Avoseh’s re-election took place in the oil city of Warri, conducted peacefully and without opposition, reflecting the confidence of the members in his leadership. Similarly, Comrade Ajayi’s victory was declared unopposed in Lagos, signifying a smooth and widely supported transition.

In a statement signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, Dr. Adeyanju praised the incumbent President-General of MWUN, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, for the meticulous planning of the elections, including the well-chosen venues and timely execution. He described Comrade Abi, a seasoned labour leader from Delta State, as a model of strategic foresight and unity.

Furthermore, Dr. Adeyanju commended the outgoing President of the NPA Branch, Comrade Mazeli Edward Ifeanyi, for his unwavering dedication and exemplary service during his eight-year tenure. He also lauded the dignified manner in which leadership was transferred to Comrade Ajayi.

He urged all newly elected and re-elected officials of both branches to remain committed and supportive of their respective presidents, ensuring efficiency and sustained progress across their units and the Union at large.

In closing, Comrade Adeyanju expressed gratitude to all election delegates for their discipline and orderly conduct, affirming that the elections across the four branches were executed with distinction. He offered heartfelt congratulations to the MWUN President-General for a successful electoral process.
