The Managing Director/CEO, of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has strategized to boost the competitiveness of the country’s seaports and grow revenue earnings by the Federal Government by engaging
critical stakeholders.
It would be recalled that the Authority had recently got the approval of the government to increase the Lekki Deep Seaport’s channel from the current 16.5 metres and ultimately to 19metres in the nearest future, a move that is geared towards crashing the cost of shipping in Nigeria, as very large container carriers would be able to berth at the port with the attendant economy of scale.
In line with these strategic engagements, the NPA MD/CEO, led other top management of the Authority played host to top executives of the Dangote Group, led by its Group CEO, Dr. Aliko Dangote, who were on a working visit to the Marina, Lagos headquarters of the NPA.
Addressing the team, the NPA boss emphasized that Nigeria’s port industry needs such strategic partnerships at this auspicious time in its developmental history in line with efforts to make the seaports competitive and boost revenue earnings for the government.
