The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) will hold its
highly anticipated 7th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference (NDC) with a book launch and presentation of awards to distinguished individuals.
The delegates conference is scheduled to hold on Friday 28th March, 2025, at Festival Hotels, Amuwo Odofin, Festac Town, Lagos State.
As part of its commitment to recognizing excellence and dedication in the maritime sector, the
leadership of MWUN instituted the prestigious awards ceremony to honour outstanding individuals who have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the industry. Awards will be
presented in different categories. All award recipients are encouraged to arrive on time to ensure a
smooth and successful ceremony.
In addition, under the visionary leadership of Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, the union will launch its
painstakingly compiled and documented history of MWUN from 1996 to date in a landmark book
titled – HISTORY OF MARITIME WORKERS UNION OF NIGERIA, 1996 TO 2024.
This historical
publication, the first of its kind in the industry, serves as a vital resource to educate future
generations about the union’s journey, struggles, and milestones.
The official launching of this book will take place on the same day at the conference venue.
Furthermore, in adherence to the union’s constitution, which stipulates a maximum of two terms of
four year each, the incumbent leadership has dutifully completed its tenure. In a demonstration of
exemplary leadership and commitment to democratic principles, Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adeyanju will
honourably hand over the reins of power in a seamless and rancour-free National Delegates
Conference, ensuring the continuity and stability of its legacy of service and advocacy for Maritime
Workers.
