… Ratifies Expulsion of Kwankwanso, Galadima
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has given automatic tickets to its members in the state houses of Assembly and the National Assembly to contest the 2027 general elections. The implication is that all the current law makers who are members of NNPP will not go through primary election before they recontest their positions.
The party at its 54th National Convention in Lagos in the early hours of Wednesday also ratified the suspension of Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso and Engr. Buba Galadima.
Motions to retain the party’s constitution and for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore the party’s original logo and colour were moved and overwhelmingly adopted.
The convention also ratified the reconstituted National Working Committee of the party.
Speaking earlier in his keynote address, the Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), NNPP, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam reiterated that he founded NNPP and nurtured it to where it is today.
He said that when Senator Kwakwanso and his entourage came to his country home to join the party, he was considered as someone who could contribute to the growth of NNPP. Hence, the party offered him the presidential ticket on a platter of gold but paid the good gesture back with a plan to hijack the party.
The founder restated that NNPP is a party established by him through God’s inspiration and that members of the party are children of God that cannot be mistreated and cheated.
However, Dr. Aniebonam said with a large heart that he has forgiven the NNPP’s presidential flag bearer in the 2023 general elections but left to him to retrace his step.
In his welcome address, BOT Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi Babayo, stressed that the convention is a testament to the party’s resilience, unity, and unwavering commitment to democratic values and the aspirations of millions of Nigerians.
He stated categorically clear that the NNPP has no crisis whatsoever but remains strong and united.
His words: “Our party remains strong, united, and focused on its vision of providing credible leadership and governance that prioritizes the needs of Nigerians. Any speculation to the contrary is baseless and does not reflect the reality of our collective resolve to move forward together,” he enthused.
The BOT Secretary said that the gathering at the convention was meant to celebrate not just the achievements of the party but also the renewed hope in the party’s ability to build a better future.
Disclosing that one of the key highlights of the convention was the election of new National Executive Committee members, he extended his heartfelt congratulations to them.
“Your emergence is a call to service, and the responsibility now rests on your shoulders to lead this great Party with diligence, integrity, and dedication.
“The task ahead is enormous, but with unity, hard work, and a clear vision, we will continue to strengthen the NNPP and position it as the true vehicle for change in Nigeria. I urge you all to work tirelessly in expanding our grassroots presence, mobilizing support, and fostering internal democracy within the party. Together, we must ensure that the NNPP remains a formidable force in shaping the future of our dear country”, he stated.
Alhaji Babayo noted that the presence of esteemed delegates and party faithfuls at the convention demonstrates their unwavering belief in the ideals of the NNPP.
He charged them to use the convention to strategize, build stronger alliances, and reaffirm the commitment to the service of the great party and the nation at large.
