The Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Dr Ben Oramalugo PhD, has emphasized the
Command’s commitment to improving operational efficiency, enhancing security measures, and contributing to the economic prosperity of the region.
The controller stated this during the celebration of the International Customs Day (ICD) at the Ibadan operational headquarters of the command on Monday, 27 January, 2025.
He noted that through continuous training, strategic partnerships, and the adoption of technology, the Command has successfully improved its service delivery to the public.
He said that the theme for this year’s celebration reflects the Service’s dedication to not only securing the nation’s borders but also contributing to the prosperity of Nigeria.
Oramalugo emphasized that Customs as a key player in international trade, will continue to innovate and collaborate to ensure that its processes are seamless, efficient, and secure.
According to a press statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer,
CSC Kayode Wey, the controller, along side other officials, hosted the International Customs Day celebration which was marked by a series of presentations and discussions, centered around the theme: “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity.”
The statement informed that the International Customs Day, celebrated annually to recognize the important role of Customs in the global economy, was attended by officers and Men of the command. The gathering underscored the vital role that Customs plays in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across borders, facilitating trade, and safeguarding national security.
The command carried out a series of activities during the celebration, including a presentation from an officer who served as a resource person and an interactive session on how the Customs service can further enhance its role in supporting the government’s economic agenda.
The event also highlighted the role of Customs in combating smuggling and enhancing revenue generation through transparent and efficient processes.
At the end of the event, all Command officers agreed to remain committed to advancing the mission of the Nigeria Customs Service and contributing to a prosperous and secure environment for all stakeholders involved in legitimate trade.
