The Nigerian maritime Administration and safety Agency ( NIMASA) is working to ensure the disbursement of the CVFF funds for the benefit of shipping promotion in Nigeria
Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola gave this assurance on Monday in Lagos at an interactive session with maritime journalists .
The NIMASA Boss while responding to questions from journalists at the interactive session agreed with the media that the disbursement of the CVFF funds is long overdue and is crucial to the development of the maritime sector.
“CVFF is not about vessels alone it is about the demand. What are these vessels going to be carrying. We need to ensure that the vessels make revenue for the sector . We need to ensure that the funds is used for the benefit of the shipping companies, NiMASA , the entire maritime industry and Nigeria”– The DG said
He restated the commitment of the federal Government to diversify the country’s Economy and appealed to the media to collaborate with the Agency so as to move the maritime sector forward.
The entire maritime media were unanimous in their submission. They want the DG to focus on Training / capacity building and the welfare of maritime journalists so as to strengthen the partnership that had existed between the Agency and the media over the years .
The Director General of NIMASA was accompanied to the interactive session with the media by Executive Director Finance &Admin, Executive Director operations and Executive Director cabotage services of the Agency .
