The Ahamdu Bello University Students Representative Council, has honored Kanwan Katsina, District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni with the prestigious Champion Of Community Harmony and Conflict Resolution Award.
The award which was presented to the traditional ruler during the students summit, recognizes his outstanding contributions to security development and conflict resolution in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Presenting the award, the students were of the strong belief that his tireless efforts to promote peace and harmony in his community, despite the challenges posed by banditry and kidnapping are truly commendable. As an alumnus of ABU, being present to receive the award, is a testament to the impact of his contributions, and the belief that it will serve as a source of encouragement to him to continue the excellent work as ABU students see him as a role model, and his achievements serve as an inspiration to others.
The Award was presented at the ABU Students Representative Council summit to mark the culmination of a comprehensive training program for 2000 students of University, equipping them with essential entrepreneurship and digital skills.
The presence of Kanwan Katsina at the event, the students restated, was highly valued, as they believed that his
leadership and conflict resolution expertise would greatly inspire and motivate students and other leaders.
Receiving the award, the Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni, expressed his appreciation to the students representative council for finding him worthy of the award.
He informed the students body with delight that he graduated from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1981, forty three years ago where he studied Political science which received a standing ovation by the students. Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara attributed his success and achievements in his present career as a traditional ruler and while he was at the Customs service to the training and molding he received from the university.
He therefore urged the students to focus on their studies and graduate with flying colors to be good ambassador of their Alma Mater.
The Monarch commended the Students Representative Council for organizing the skills acquisition training for two thousand students on shoe making, baking, make-up, and ICT among others.
