For his doggedness, fearlessness and unusual courage demonstrated in the clearance of Mile 2 – Tin Can corridor of the popular Oshodi-Apapa Expressway for unhindered free flow of traffic, the Port Manager, Tin Can Island Port Complex, Mr. Sylvester Egede, has been honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence for the Most Courageous Port Manager of the Decade.
The award was bestowed on the Port Manager by the renowned Maritime activists’ group, Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders, Importers, Exporters Coalition (SNFFIEC).
Speaking during the presentation of the award, the National Coordinator of the group, Chief (Dr.) Osita Chukwu KSJI, saluted the courage of the Port Manager for making the impossible happened by clearing the menace of tankers and truck drivers who used to park haphazardly on both sides of the expressway and the port access road.
Calling him the lion of Tin Can Island, Dr. Chukwu extolled the virtues of Mr. Egede for his exemplary display of courage, fearlessness and forthrightness to clear the roads at a time all hopes were lost.
The National Coordinator also lauded the Port Manager for having a good track record of performance and urged him not to deviate but to continue to keep the good record as there are people and organisations that are watching his performance.
