There was absolute mayhem yesterday afternoon at the Tin Can Port gate as truckers resisted a move to force N3000 ticket on them.
The resistance led to a free for all fight as people scampered out of the area for safety.
The campaign rally of a candidate in presidential election of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Chief Emenike, holding at the Port gate yesterday was disrupted before police could get to the area to maintain peace.
A truck driver, Mr. Alimi Ajagbe told People’s Forum that the truckers resisted the payment of N3000 for the ticket because they don’t belong to the associations that were forcing it on them.
Ajagbe alleged that the tickets emanated from Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and Nigerian Association of Road Transport Organization (NARTO).
Attempts to reach the leaders of the two associations for comments proved abortive.
