The Acting Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has said that it should be a thing of joy for maritime journalists if he runs the affairs of the Service very well and succeed.
He also told them that it will be a collective failure if he fails, stressing that the failure will not be his alone.
CG Adeniyi stated this at a dinner with maritime journalists in Lagos on Sunday.
His words: “The failure will not be mine alone. It will be something we’ll all share because I will open my door to you. You will have the opportunity to shape the direction with the Customs management. It had been like that when I was the PRO. It will possibly be better now that I am the Acting CG.”
He stated that his intention was not to address the press but to register his presence in Lagos and to report himself to his colleagues that their former PRO is now the Acting Customs Comptroller General.
The Customs boss added that he has come to solicit for the journalists support, guidance, collaboration and partnership in steering the affairs of Customs.
As he’s counting on their support, the CGC informed them that he has a focus to drive the Service to success as he had learnt from previous Comptrollers General who he worked closely with and learnt best practices.
CG Adeniyi prayed that he would not disappoint them but would be a Customs Comptroller General they will be proud of.
Earlier in his speech, the CGC prayed for the departed journalists and their families, charging everyone to always remember the families they left behind.
