… Restoration Team determines to restore peace, past glory, integrity of ANLCA, professionalism, welfare and love among members
The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) is set for the path of greatness once again as Comrade Goddy Sewa Soleji and his Restoration Team have the cast-iron determination to restore peace, integrity and the past glory of the association as well as love among members.
The team also intends to restore professionalism, welfarism and promote equity and transparency in a way that members will enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Making this assertion in an exclusive interview with People’s Forum Online on Tuesday, the Chairman, KLT chapter of ANLCA, Comrade Goddy Sewa Soleji who is vying for the post of Western Zone Coordinator alluded to the fact that the association is on the threshold of greatness as his Restoration Team sets to take over ANLCA leadership.
The ANLCA chairman who described himself as a team player, promised to be selfless, dedicated, transparent, committed and accountable to members of ANLCA as their Coordinator in Western Zone.
According to Comrade Soleji, “leadership is not when you are selfish. Leadership is when you are ready to be submissive. It is when you are ready to have a listening ear. Leadership is when you are ready to serve the people without expecting anything in return. Leadership is service to God and humanity. Leadership is when you are a team player and you carry everybody along.
“Leadership is about dedication. Leadership is about commitment. It is about transparency, it is about accountability.”
He disclosed that he threw his hat into the ring because his people wanted him to be their Western Zone Coordinator and not that he wanted to be.
The chairman said he respected the voice of the people because as the saying goes, the voice of the people is the voice of God.
In his words: ” My people want me to be their zonal coordinator, not that I want to be. I listened to the voice of my people because the voice of the people is the voice of God. For them to call upon me , I know they have seen something in me. They know that I am competent to do the job. For them to call upon me, they know that I have done something similar in KLT chapter. That is why they called upon me. It is also because of the crisis, the challenge, the compounded issue we face in the industry right now, especially in the western zone here.”
He noted that all this has affected business negatively as a lot of their members had died and others not okay due to stress, lack of jobs and other operational challenges.
He added that this informed the decision of progressive members of ANLCA to beam their searchlight on a pragmatic leader that can address the present challenges and the lot fell on him.
He stated that the members looked at how he transformed KLT chapter when he became the chairman, giving it a befitting secretariat and making the chapter a force to reckon with.
Comrade Soleji is sure of victory in the next month’s election as he said that the coast is clear for him to emerge victorious because members of the association don’t want to suffer again.
“The atmosphere is very clear for me by the grace of God. If there is going to be election, the atmosphere is clear for me to win. Voting is by company licences. It is one license one vote and the people are not fools. They don’t want to suffer again. They want somebody or a group of people God will use as messiah to deliver them,” he remarked.
