The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has adopted 140 as minimum cut-off point for admission into Nigerian universities and 100 for polytechnics in the 2023/2024 academic session.
The minimum cut-off mark was accepted at the ongoing Policy Meeting on Admissions presided by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, in Abuja.
Out of the 161 universities in the country, it has been revealed that less than 10 institutions had requested for a lower minimum score than 140. This indicates that the majority of universities acknowledge the need for a certain level of academic proficiency for prospective students.
Furthermore, JAMB has also announced the minimum score for admission into polytechnics and colleges of education. For admission into polytechnics and colleges of education, the approved minimum score is 100. This decision aims to maintain consistency in the admission criteria across different types of tertiary institutions.
