Shuaibu Breaks Record, Makes N9.3 Billion On Excise Duties

The Ogun Area II Command of Nigeria Customs Service headed by DC Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu has generated approximately N9.3 billion from January to May 2023.

This achievement is first of its kind in the history o Command.

The Ogun 11 Area Command is saddled with the responsibility of promoting factories’ compliance in accordance to government policies on payment of Excise Duties into Federal Government purse.

The whopping sum of N9, 260,033,178.55 revenue collected from January to May 2023, would not have been possible without the Acting Controller’s deployment of his managerial competence and highly skilled Customs operations intelligence he has acquired in various Customs units he has headed.

Furthermore, his diligent and constant supervision to ensure efficiency in service performance through promoting Customs officers’ working conditions as well as giving his subordinates opportunities to attend training and sensitization programs are some of the magic wands for his success.

DC Ahmadu Shuaibu’s successes and achievements are due largely to his tirelessbengagement with stakeholders and owners of factories, coupled with a robust relationship and collaboration, networking, including
information gathering and processing, deployment of massive intelligence and monitoring of the Command.

The Ogun II Command is responsible for Excise and Free Trade zone monitoring. Statistically, the Command has 57 excise factories within its area of responsibility; but only 36 are in full production, while 11 are under documentation, even as the remaining 10 are moribund.

He noted that the Command has two Free Trade zones, which are; Guandong free trade zone located at Igbesa, and Ceeplas at Sagamu.
