The 100% Compliance Team has suspended its planned peaceful protest at APM Terminal in Apapa Port because of alleged hiring of saboteurs by the management of APM Terminals to disrupt it.
Appraising freight forwarders and concerned professionals on the reasons for aborting the planned protest scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 13th June 2023, the team stated that as everyone knows, the poor services and outright sabotage of Nigerian economy by the terminal concessionaire, APM TERMINALS necesitated the planned protest.

It noted the deplorable condition of APMT’s examination bay and horrible scanning operations, which are some of the reason for the protest.

But a statement by National Coordinator of the Compliance Team, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, stated that intelligence network revealed that an army of hoodlums had been hired to disrupt the planned operations and hijack the peaceful protest.

“We also gathered that APM TERMINALS have planted saboteurs for the same purpose. We know that some high officials have been given millions of Naira to scuttle our plans. But we are not perturbed. Neither are we intimidated,” the statement added.

The statement further stated that having been to the examination bay to see things for himself, the Customs Area Controller Apapa, being a conscientious administrator and having the aforementioned intelligence at his disposal appealed to the team to step down the peaceful action.

“Thank God he believed us and has now summoned the APM management for consultations. The Commissioner of Police, Western ports Command also concurred with the above and similarly appealed for calm. He has also invited us to a meeting tomorrow 14th June for a dialogue while commending us for our efforts. He went to the terminal to see things for himself.
“Other security agencies, including the port security officer have also keyed into dialogue mode with us,” the statement said.

It said that in the light of the above, the planned peaceful protest had to be suspended.

Noting that it is only a suspension, the team said that stands ready to mobilize its members if no appreciable improvement in the examination bay and scanning operations is noticed.

” I Ibrahim Tanko will never disappoint you as we fight to improve services in our work environment.

“We appeal to all stakeholders and sister associations who support us to remain calm and vigilant as our cause is noble, for our good and that of country, ” the statement concluded.
