The National President, Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA), Comrade Adeyinka Aroyewun has debunked the allegations made against him by the Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Mr. Akin Fagbemi, just as he flayed the agency for the way it has been handling the case of container obstruction which is fraught with fraud.
Aroyewun debunked the allegation that he collected N500,000 from his member, the owner of the container that caused obstruction, to secure its release.
He equally described as false the allegation that he claimed to be a member of APC to seek favour in a PDP controlled state, saying that the untenable lie lacks any atom of wisdom.
He berated the agency for poor handling of the case of obstruction caused by the truck accident in the Challenge area of Ibadan in March.
He could not understand why the agency recovered the truck that was already evacuated to the garage and requested for obstruction charges to be paid on it and the container.
According to Aroyewun, the association with the aid of police and the Federal Road Safety Corps had evacuated the truck and left the container beside the road because it could not get the right equipment in the area.
The COMTUA leader demanded explanation on why OYRTMA does not have fixed charges for traffic offences and why payment should be made to a private company.
He added that he believes that the case of accident falls within the purview of the police and any recovery bill should have been sent to the police.
On the allegations made against him, Aroyewun threatened to seek redress in court if the libellous statements are not proven or retracted.
